EXTENDED (FINAL) CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Geomatics Atlantic will be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador from November 23-24, 2017, at the Sheraton Hotel (http://www.sheratonhotelnewfoundland.com/). The Newfoundland and Labrador Branch of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics invites interested parties to submit proposals for presentations that support this year's conference theme “150 Years of Canadian Geomatics". In keeping with the broad scope of Geomatics Atlantic conferences in the past, abstracts will be welcome for the following topics:

  • Natural Resources Applications (Oil & Gas, Mining, Forestry, Fishing)

  • Environmental Monitoring and Conservation (Wetlands, Forests, Wildlife habitat, Icebergs)

  • Marine Geomatics

  • Government Applications (Municipal, Provincial, Federal)

  • GPS and Mapping

  • Remote Sensing and GIS Applications

  • Photogrammetry

  • Advanced Tools and Techniques in Geomatics

  • Algorithms and Geospatial Analysis

  • Mobile Technology (Smartphone, Tablet)

  • Crowdsourcing

  • Unmanned Airborne Systems (UASs)

  • Predictive Mapping and Modeling

  • Geomatics Use in Non-traditional Industries (Medicine, Advertising, Video Games, etc.)

 

The conference organizers would like to showcase the Atlantic region’s innovative use of new technology within Geomatics and welcomes presentation proposals that are on the leading edge. Presentations should be proposed in the form of an abstract and include:

  • Title, author's name and contact information, including title, employer, address, telephone, fax and e-mail

  • Identification of primary speaker where different from the author or where there are multiple authors

  • Abstract (no more than 300 words)

  • Author's biographical information (no more than 150 words)

  • List of any other events or venues where the presentation may have been previously presented.

 

Submission of Abstracts:

A template for proposal submission can be found below (see Downloads). All abstract submissions must be made by e-mail to Dr. Bahram Salehi or Mr. Andrew Cuff at geoatlantic2017@gmail.com no later than September 29, 2017. By submitting an abstract, the author agrees to its publication in the final program and on the Geomatics Atlantic 2017 web site. The committee will assess the proposals received and invite the selected authors / speakers to make their presentation at Geomatics Atlantic 2017. Each presentation will be allotted 30 minutes total in the conference schedule: 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions. All documentation must be submitted in MS Word or Adobe PDF formats.

 

Submission of Full Papers (for inclusion in Geomatica Special Issue):

Prospective Geomatics Atlantic presenters have the option of authoring a full paper for inclusion in a special issue of Geomatica (http://pubs.cig-acsg.ca/journal/cig), free of charge.  Deadline for submission of full paper will be after the conference. More details of the special issue including full paper submission deadline will be included in a call for full papers that will be distributed with the Geomatics Atlantic Registration material.

November 23-24, 2017: Conference presentations
